| Wine World at WaterColor January 25, 2010 22:44:34 Wine World is pleased to announce the mid-February opening of Wine World at WaterColor. The WaterColor venue will offer extensive, diverse and value oriented retail selections of wine, beer, and cheese along with related accessory items. Modeled after the popular and successful flagship Destin operation, but tailored for WaterColor, this new location also incorporates a sophisticated, yet informal, wine bar and a separate family-friendly restaurant. The total experience will be unparalleled in the 30A market, particularly the non-resort pricing! The concept is to deliver universally appealing and price conscious products and services to WaterColor and 30A residents and visitors, adult and family alike.
“We work very hard to offer our clientele the best possible shopping and dining experience at the best possible prices,” says owner Chan Cox. “30A is long overdue for a value oriented, retail store and restaurant. We feel very positive that locals and vacationers alike will come to recognize the store as a well loved fixture along these world famous beaches.”
Chan, with over 30 years of food & beverage experience, brought together a team of wine, cheese and food professionals to customize operations to suit the 30A market, leveraging the successes and qualities of his other locations. The team features international wine and cheese expert Michel Thibault, culinary master and cookbook author Alison Porter and former Criolla’s general manager Tim Kinderman, all experienced in meeting the expectations and needs of 30A residents and visitors.
Largely a local family owned and operated enterprise, the cornerstone is their retail wine business, offering Northwest Florida’s most comprehensive and best priced wine selection accompanied by virtually unequaled customer service. Long before issues with the economy, Wine World focused on finding wines offering the best price-to-quality ratio available. This practice continues today, it is simply their way of doing business. Wine World has greatly impacted the average wine consumer’s lifestyle by enriching their experience and broadening their wine comfort zone.
Wine World at WaterColor will offer both adult and family-friendly fare including grab-n-go breakfast items, fresh baked goods, Seattle’s Best coffee, pizzas, Panini’s and Chef Alison Porter’s gourmet lunch, dinner and tapas menu items.
While known for its impeccable wine selection, Wine World at WaterColor will also offer over 70 selections of interesting and quality cheeses, salami, prosciutto, Serrano ham and pates, as well as gourmet snacks, olives, sweets and other grocery items for your enjoyment and convenience. Among other products and services, Wine World offers a wide variety of wine accessories including glassware, corkscrews, decanters and more. Customized gift baskets and party planning services for any budget are available.
Wine World has extensive experience in event planning and management, such as Chan Cox’s role as founder and continuing moving force behind the Sandestin Wine Festival, soon entering its 25th anniversary as well as numerous other major wine, food and cheese commercial and charity events. Wine World plans to use its expertise and resources to elevate interest in and benefit the community as a result of community based events.
Wine World at WaterColor is located at the crossroads of East County Road 30A and WaterColor Resort. Wine World will occupy the space previously leased by Hot & Cold restaurant and PJ’s Coffee Shop. The address is 1735 East County Road 30a. - [Read more] |

| Dog Beach in Panama City Beach is AWESOME! January 9, 2010 06:30:30
OK, this isn't a fun article because it is about something that is really great, but something that is not in Destin. We receive 20 to 30 emails a week asking where the closest dog friendly beach is to Destin. FYI-City of Destin...These emails are from people who would rather spend their money in Destin, but have decided to find a place that is friendly to their loved ones...their dogs. We went to Panama City Beach to learn about their Dog Beach and were thrilled with what we found...
Although it was cold, there were still a few people on the beach with their dogs. The first people we ran into were a mother with her two daughters and a precious puppy they had just adopted. The family was having a wonderful time together building special memories that will last a lifetime.
The next couple were playing ball with two Golden Retrievers that were chasing the ball in the waves. As we were leaving, several more people started arriving at the beach with their dogs, so we were able to get a few more photos and you'll find them all posted on our blog.
We applaud Panama City Beach for responding to their citizens and for reserving a small spot on the beach for dogs. As a matter of fact, we are going to drive over tomorrow (Saturday January 8) and bring Mako to the Dog Beach. We'll probably work in a little shopping...We hope that the 'Powers that be' will give us a Dog Beach and are looking forward to our new Mayor, Sam Seevers. We hope a new administration will be more responsive and smarter than the last. Make no mistake...Being Dog Friendly is smart business!

| Ron Adams "Elvis' Blue Christmas Show was great! December 19, 2009 08:30:36
When we initially planned to cover the Ron Adams, Elvis' Blue Christmas Show, we planned to have Whitney "On Camera" and Jake "behind the camera" and tonight we had neither. The show had initially been planned for the 11th of December, but was rescheduled due to the weather. Because of this, Whitney and Jake became unavailable and we had to work out new plans. We decided to do a lighter version of the coverage and went with Kiran from 100%KIDZ "on camera" and Ric "Behind a still shot and video camera", so this may not be our best coverage. All in all, we think it still came out pretty good. You can view the photos by clicking on the preview images to the left. We'll have the videos up pretty fast and they will play in a new video gallery that will be titled "Destin's Ron Adams".
The show itself was fun and entertaining from start to finish and though we had only intended to cover an hour or so, we ended up covering the entire show, which went for around two exciting hours. We think a highlight was when Ron asked the crowd for song requests and our Kiran requested "The 12 Days of Christmas". Members of the audience were brought onstage to sing one line from the song each and it became one of those moments you'll never forget. Then, after the "memory making" moment of "The 12 Days of Christmas" the whole area begins snowing...On stage in Destin! More great memories!
People who follow our site know that we cover a lot of events and try to present the moment in a manner that will make them feel part of the event. That is the reason we rarely use tripods and tend to move around the event. We get a lot of positive feedback on our methods and some "What are you thinking?" feedback as well. We just do what we think is the best and most original.
One more thing...Hats off to the team who put this event together. We know that Jamie Hall and her assistant Amy were the leads in the presentation and they did a fantastic job. Also, Jamie, thanks for the quick response to our questions. Your quick response allowed us to better prepare for our coverage and hopefully made it better.
Ron...You da' man! - [Read more] |
